Miga Town: My Pets

A 2D designed imaginative play pet-themed town “virtual dollhouse” with 1 of 5 locations free to use, and more than 15 pets to place in the 5 character’s hands in that location. Much like the original Miga Town, just with pet-themed locations (pet competition grounds, animal hospital, apartment, shop, octopus island).

ABOUT

Miga Town is free to download and play, but most of its content is locked behind a one time $3.99 paywall. After that, you get quite a bit of content to play around with in this animal crazed town, so there’s some good value here.

An inspection of their privacy policy reveals they don’t collect any information “from your social account”, although their page (https://miga-kids.com/privacypolicy/)  looks low budget and a little scant. This might be the result of a low budget website, but it doesn’t look altogether thoughtful or confidence-inspiring. There is no mention of COPPA.

Like other Miga apps, there isn’t much educational value in Miga Town: My Pets. It’s about as educational as a real dollhouse would be, which is great for creative exploration and storytelling, but not much else. The art style is cute and it’s fun to explore, especially with the fun pets theme, but it doesn’t have a ton of depth.

There aren’t any ads in this game, other than the notification when you’ve tapped on a location that is locked behind the paywall.

As far as in-app purchases go, there are none, outside the $3.99 to unlock all the content.

Our editor rating sits at a 2 because as far as virtual dollhouses go, this will keep your young children busy for a long while, (especially if your child is an animal lover) and might be a good game to have on hand for imaginative minds. If your children aren’t very into imaginative play and need clear goals or objectives in their games, this may not be the best app for them. If you’re looking for something educational, look elsewhere. We also have some doubts about the privacy of this game after reviewing the app’s scant policy.

GAME PLAY

The game opens up on the title page, and immediately, you will be able to scroll across 5 cute locations in a new pet-themed Miga town. Once you’ve chosen a location, you can pull characters out of your character dock and place them where you like amongst the location’s many set pieces and character accessories. There are couches, closets, beds, showers, etc. you name it! There is a lot to explore and play within these interactive locations. While most locations and characters are locked behind a one-time paywall, this free version offers 1 location for kids to play in. The gameplay revolves around imaginative play with the characters and pets in their environment. It is much like a digital dollhouse as you play around with their clothing and accessories(animals). This game is similar to Toca games. There are PLENTY of animals in this virtual dollhouse, and they each make cute noises as you tap on them and move them around their environments. The animals work as accessories in these games, meaning they won’t show up in a dock to place around the world as you want like you can do with the characters.

Summary

Although Miga Town: My Pets has a paywall, the unlockable content is large. Four dollars goes a long way in this imaginative play game. Young kids will be distracted as they play around this adorable animal heavy world, although it’s unlikely they would learn much, as Miga Town focuses on the fun design and experience rather than teaching anything.
