An imaginative play game featuring a hospital “virtual dollhouse” with over 30 dolls/characters.
My PlayHome Hospital is part of the My PlayHome family of apps where kids get to play within a virtual city. The price is $2.99 and includes a hospital-themed virtual dollhouse with 2 floors and a variety of rooms filled with accessories to play in.
This hospital has a doctor’s office, a lobby with a receptionist desk, a radiology room, an ER, a break room, and a few patient rooms. The value here is increased compared to other virtual dollhouses in that you can bandage and take x-rays of your dolls. If you have a little one interested in medicine and healthcare, this is a fun dollhouse!
If this is your second PlayHome game, this game does not include any added characters, but instead, there are outfits in just about every room that allow you to dress up your current characters as doctors and nurses with scrubs and labcoats.
Like the other My PlayHome apps, there isn’t much educational content, but we do like that this opens a new environment not included in most virtual dollhouse and city apps.
Like the other My PlayHome apps, the privacy policy appears secure and while there are no in-app purchases, there are ads when you exit the hospital to back to the city main street.
My PlayHome Hospital opens up on the title page, which features the hospital. After pressing play, you are able to scroll between the floors and rooms: Emergency Room, Reception, Dr’s office, Waiting room, patient rooms, radiology, and break rooms. Once you’ve chosen a room, you can pull characters out of your character dock and place them where you like amongst the room’s many set pieces and character accessories. There are plenty of clothes to dress your My Playhome characters to help them look the part. In the character dock, there are over 30 characters to play with, which are the same characters that come with each My PlayHome game.
There are various character accessories that interact with the characters and with each other. Many animations help aid imaginative play as kids move items between characters and containers. For instance, characters will consume food as you drag it to their mouths, vending machines will beep and then drop a candy bar. There is a lot to explore and play with on these interactive floors. It is much like a digital dollhouse as you play around with their clothing and accessories. This game is very similar to other virtual dollhouses, and really what makes this app stand out is the hospital theme and some hospital exclusive accessories along, with its illustrative design style.
Our play tester really liked the Radiology room where you are able to move an x-ray machine over your dolls, view the image on the computer in the tech box, and then by tapping the printer, print the x rays to light up and use as accessories/props.
In MyPlayHome games, you can also exit the building you are viewing and scroll down the street to see other buildings like the school and homes which are place holding ads for their other locations/games. If you own any of these other games, it will pretty seamlessly swap applications when you tap on the building from the street view.
