Toca Hair Salon 4 builds on the existing Toca Boca Hair Salon series that have been hugely popular among families. This wholesome app is a fun salon experience where kids can choose from a variety of starter looks and completely customize them. From new hair cuts to facepaint and clothes, this is at its core a dress-up game that really allows kids to go wild with their imagination.
The app is free to install, however, there are ample in-app purchases. The shop icon appears prominently just under the play button on the opening screen and there are about a dozen items to purchase, ranging from thematic bundles ($5.97 and up) to packs that include outfits, stickers, accessories, and backgrounds ($0.99 and up). There is also a “Toca News” area that promotes new Toca apps. Age verification is required to “learn more” as this links out to the app store.
Kids can also save photos of their creations to the camera roll to share with family and friends. Unlike some other Toca Boca apps, this has no parental settings, however, outside of in-app purchases, there is nothing a parent would need to be concerned about regarding app content.
While the app store has this listed in the education category we found zero educational value within the app.
